Headshot Photographer Serving Ashford and East Kent
Headshots, portraits and event photography made in Folkestone and accessible from across Kent
Hi, I’m Chris
I'm Chris, a portrait and headshot photographer based at my studio on Tontine Street in Folkestone. I work with professionals, business owners, actors, and anyone who wants a portrait that does more than confirm what they look like.
My studio is around 17 miles from Ashford (about 25 minutes by road down the 20, or a quick train journey). I also bring a portable studio to clients' offices and workplaces across Kent when that suits better.
More than a headshot
Most portrait photography is quick and functional. That has its place. However, if you're at a point where a new role, a changed professional identity, or simply a better image matters (i.e. the kind of portrait that moves you rather than just records you) that's the work I do.
Each shoot is unhurried. The aim is a finished portrait: considered, deliberate, and worth keeping for years rather than updating with every website refresh.
Who I work with in Ashford
As a regional growth hub with significant commercial development, my clients include solicitors, consultants, healthcare professionals, and SME owners who need photography that carries weight. There are also many lively drama schools with actors requiring updated headshots for casting, and with teams and organisations needing consistent, professional imagery across their teams.
If you're based in Ashford, or indeed anywhere in Kent, I'm easy to reach and happy to travel if the brief requires it.

Tontine Street, Folkestone, Kent. From Ashford, it's approximately 17 miles, or around 25 minutes via the M20. Alternatively, it’s four stops down the train line and short walk on the other end.

Absolutely! I live in Ashford, so travelling around the town is no problem. I also work across Kent and the South East. For corporate, team and event shoots, I’m happy to bring a portable studio to you.

My Signature photoshoots do not have a time limit, but experience tells me that they generally last two-three hours. This isn’t rushed work and it takes the time it needs to.
For team photos on location, how how long the shoot takes will depend on how many people there are in your team, and I ask that you allot 10-15 minutes per person.
-
I'll send preparation guidance before your session. The short answer is: wear what you'd wear if you were successful in the role you're photographing for, and avoid very busy patterns.
-
Most headshot providers optimise for volume and speed, with many photographers giving you all the photos they take almost as soon as they touch them – as if curation and processing weren’t important!
My bespoke process involves unhurried shoots that dig deep into what makes you tick and where you tick. The result are photos you will be proud of, and which are made to last rather than to be replaced.
