Dance, Art and Two Beams of Light

On 7th April 2026, Jasmin Vardimon’s studio in Ashford opened its doors for a collaborative workshop between the JV2 team and artists in a number of mediums. Right at the end of their course, the dancers explored full contact improvisation, first in couples and then in larger groups, with the artists interpreting their movement in the environment.

Here are a number of photos I took on the day, in which I focused on two aspects: the dynamic geometry of the dancers and the light in the context of the blackened space, and some extraordinarily beautiful and spontaneously emergent storytelling. There are also a few BTS shots for context.
